Informed sources in Jordan claimed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reached an agreement with the Jordanian King Abdullah on the Syrian army’s advances towards Jordan.
The sources were quoted as saying by the Arabic-language Eram News that based on the agreement the Syrian army will continue to advance against the terrorists towards the Jordanian borders.
They referred to Lavrov’s recent trip to Jordan, and said that the Syria case, setting up de-escalation zones in the country and other issues along with bilateral relations between Moscow and Amman were among the issues discussed by Lavrov and King Abdullah.
The Syrian army forces have advanced in the Southeastern parts of Damascus, gaining back control of several bordering areas with Jordan.
For the Syrian army, the capture of the al-Sweida’s border with Jordan means the renewal of commerce between Damascus and Amman after more than two years of not sharing a crossing.
